Newport Launches Stormwater Parcel Viewer

Newport Launches Stormwater Parcel Viewer

The City of Newport has launched a new Stormwater Parcel Viewer that allows property owners to view the impervious area information associated with their parcel and better understand how stormwater service costs are distributed across the community.

Impervious surfaces such as rooftops, driveways, parking lots, and other hard surfaces prevent rainfall from soaking into the ground. These surfaces generate stormwater runoff that must be managed through the City’s drainage infrastructure, water quality programs, flood mitigation efforts, and regulatory compliance activities.

The Parcel Viewer provides property-specific information and is intended to increase transparency as Newport continues evaluating long-term stormwater funding options. Property owners can search for their parcel, review mapped impervious area data, and estimate how the proposed stormwater utility structure would apply to their property. Estimates shown in the viewer are illustrative, reflect a proposed structure that remains under evaluation, and do not represent an adopted fee, a bill, or a final determination for any property.

Residents are encouraged to review their property information and to submit questions or request a review if they believe parcel data may need correction. Contact the Department of Utilities at utilities@newportri.gov or 401-845-5600.
